This light weight, compact 13ft solo canoe is big on performance and perfect for getting out and relaxing on the water.
The RTI 13 is the smallest canoe from the Enigma fleet and is an all-out one person tripping open boat. Designed to be easily paddled solo, the RTI 13 is also light enough to allow one person to car-top and transport the boat to and from the water’s edge with ease. Designed by Colin Broadway this design follows on from the Mobile Adventure Ottawa
Although not classed as unstable, the RTI would suit a paddler with previous open boat experience or someone willing to learn the traditional kneeling stance of paddling an open canoe.
This model has minimal rocker and a relatively narrow beam, allowing it to track well in a straight line and have less drag than wider solo canoes.
Due to its relatively short waterline length, the RTI is very manoeuvrable making it a great little craft for exploring smaller waterways and backwaters. It is also a nice size for smaller or junior paddlers looking for a lightweight, easy to handle open boat. This canoe is rated one of the best solo canoes on the market, an ideal canoe for getting out there from an overnight canoe camping trip or spending the day on the water with your dog.
For those canoeists looking for more initial stability, wishing to carry extra equipment or take a second paddler- at only a foot longer the Nimrod 14 might be worth a look.
